"That Summer: A Fantasia on Family" premieres at Philadelphia Gay Men's Chorus

by Thomas Gualtieri

The Philadelphia Gay Men's Chorus presents the world premiere of a new work: That Summer: A Fantasia on Family. The cantata is in three movements, with music by Andrea Clearfield and libretto by Tom Gualtieri. Drawing on interviews and transcripts, and scored for men’s chorus, piano, and percussion, That Summer dramatizes the evolution of a community coming to terms with something we have never had to face: the dream of a family in a society which, until now, has not legally acknowledged our relationships.
